Funding now available for sheep farmers
The WA Sheep Farm Business Transition Program has been launched by the government to support sheep producers in transitioning their business away from live sheep exports and to help sheep farmers future-proof their businesses and improve on-farm efficiency.
- The program provides $30 million in funding, split across two rounds.
- The grant opportunity will run from 7 October 2025 to 1 December 2025.
- Grants will fund up to 50% of eligible expenditure to a maximum of $75,000 (GST exclusive).
What the funding can be used for
Funding is available for a range of projects, including:
- Farm planning and advice – Develop or update a sheep business plan or work with professionals to improve productivity and long-term sustainability.
- Training and workshops – Attend accredited training programs or industry workshops to support your business transition.
- Technology upgrades – Invest in smart farm tools like eID systems, weighing equipment, and handling technology such as Racewell Sheep Handlers and Auto Drafters to improve efficiency and animal management.
- Water and grazing infrastructure – Upgrade fencing, troughs, sheds, or water systems to improve livestock flow and pasture management.
- Diversifying income – Explore new revenue opportunities, such as on-farm processing or alternative production systems.
