Uninstall C1000 Headbail Doors
- Undo side links from the door and secondary long link.
- Undo activation arm links and remove top nylon wheels. Note the wheels are not used for the C3000 replacement doors.
- Remove the existing C1000 doors from the frame by sliding out the side.
Install C3000 Headbail Doors
- Once your old C1000 door is removed, slide in new C3000 doors in existing head bail frame. Note the Head bail frame is common between both units and requires no modifications.
- Replace the top wheels with new urethane wheels supplied.
- Re install side links to the door and secondary long link.
- Attach the activation arms to the door and opposing doors top wheel.
- Trial door action to check for smooth operation.
Install CollarBoss
- Attach each CollarBoss unit to the correct side of the door using the 4 x bolts and 4 x R180 nuts supplied at arrowed points.
(Note: Hydraulic rams are positioned at the top of the doors)
- With the doors closed and the CollarBoss arms in, adjust the position of the CollarBoss so that the gap between the door and the CollarBoss pipe is 8mm.
- Do the same for the opposing side. Combined gap between the two CollarBoss pipes is 16mm. This is a starting point for set up and can be adjusted to suit the animals needs.
- Tighten the 4 bolts (per door).
Hydraulic Hosing
- Mount supplied bracket to the top rear bolt holes of the front sign.
- Add single hose clamp to the non activating arm side (offside) of the sign.
- Add double hose clamps to Operation side.
- Install hosing as pictured below.
Note: Rams to Tee connector- ¼” hose, 1250mm long with 3/8” fittings x 4 hoses
Note: Ram hosing supplied the same length to help with even operation.
Pump Mounting
The pump may already be attached to your Collarboss but if not then follow these instructions.
- Mount the pump bracket to the operation side of the head bail.
- Mount handpump to holes that align with the appropriate side of the pump.
CollarBoss hosing from tank to tee. Hose 3/8” x 2500mm long x 2.
- Mount hose block at points indicated in the image below.
- #1 block is mounted to the tank mounting bracket.
- The neck extender base will need to be tapped to mount the mid hose block #2.
- #3 block is mounted to the top link arm.
- Adjust the hoses to fit as shown in the image below. Cable tie at point #4.
Operation
- Fill the pump tank with HLP22, or 32 grade oil (if not already supplied).
- Pump handle up and down to push oil into the cylinders. When the cylinder is full the rams should move out as designed. Leave the lever in the same position to hold the neck extenders out.
- To reverse the operation move the lever (arrowed on pump) to the opposite side. This will reverse the flow of oil and move the arms inwards towards the head bail. Leave the lever in the same position to hold the neck extenders in.
Note: In normal operation the arms will extend equally. If one is delayed see problem solving advice.
At full extension the gap allowance is 190mm.
CAUTION:
- Ensure arms are at full extension when using. This adds additional mechanical locking to the operation. Failure to do so could cause operator injury. Leave the lever in the same position you used for pumping to hold the neck extenders in place.
- Allow enough gap at point A to prevent undue pressure on the animals jugular vein causing unconsciousness. Adjust CollarBoss position if necessary.
Trouble Shooting
Contact Te Pari Technical Support for more information.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Arms move out inconsistently | Low oil | Check tank and fill if required. |
| Stiff or catching point on slow side | Check for stiff joint or ram. Hold ram and attempt to move it. This should be free to move when at rest. Consult the Te Pari Tech Support Team. | |
| Oil leak | Check and repair. Consult the Te Pari Tech Support Team. | |
| Cattle choking or going unconscious while being held in the CollarBoss when at full extension. | CollarBoss mounted to the head bail too far inwards putting pressure on the animals jugular vein. | Release the animal immediately. Undo the mounting bolts on one or both sides of the CollarBoss and adjust their position outwards to allow for more space between the bars. |
