Headbails

TE PARI HEADBAILS

The healthcare of any herd of cattle is almost impossible without a headbail.

It is often considered the yard’s most important feature.

The Te Pari range of headbails is sturdy, safe, easy to operate and has a quiet action. Mostly, headbails are manually operated, however, pneumatic and hydraulic operations are available.

In general terms there are two types of Headbails; Self-catching Headbails and Full Opening Manual Concertina Style Headbails.

Self-catching Headbails such as the Te Pari Automatic Headbail can be adjusted to accommodate different size animals. The vertical double doors swing in automatically to lock when the animal moves forward. This gate is intended for gentle cattle.

Full Opening Headbails such as the C1000 model are more appropriate for a group of mixed sized cattle because they seldom need adjustment.

The doors slide in from each side and lock at any position with the ability to apply extra pressure if needed.

No matter what type of Headbail you select, it is important that it is fitted and adjusted correctly.

Te Pari Headbails are designed for safe and easy operation, with minimal maintenance.

Te Pari Auto headbail

Originally developed in 1975 by Donalds Presses in Masterton the Auto Headbail is still a popular choice. The fully adjustable and walk-through design Automatic
Headbail combines features of both the gate type and the walk-through headbails for safe and easy handling.

How it works

The Yoke gates are partially opened into the race, and as the beast attempts to push through, the gates close and lock automatically. As the beast cannot get through
without closing the gates no baulk gate is necessary. A single lever lifts the latch and allows the beast to pass through when the operation has finished. This lever can
be controlled remotely with a rope and pulley. The neck space adjusts to suit different sized animals, there’s a gap below the yoke so the animal CAN’T CHOKE
if it goes down, and cleats are provided for a nose halter.

Benefits
  • Adjustable neck size for different age stock
  • Easy mounting in wooden yards
  • Auto/semi-auto operation
  • Hot dip galvanised for long life

  • Automatic closing gates
  • Single lever lifts the latch for beast to pass through
