A dedicated AB race is becoming increasingly popular on New Zealand dairy farms. Te Pari’s new modular AB race can be integrated into both new and existing dairy facilities, providing safe and efficient access for technicians and farm staff.
With AB technicians no longer permitted to work in herringbone pits due to health and safety requirements, and LIC’s updated AB facility standards, many dairy farmers are now upgrading their yards to include compliant AB races.
Race width is critical. A width of approximately 1050mm allows cows to stand on an angle in the race that provides good access for AB technicians, reducing delays and the risk of injury.
Pictured in the gallery below is one of Te Pari’s AB Races on a farm near Tauranga.
The AB Race can also be used for teat sealing and the optional pit access makes this job much easier. The pit is covered by strong FRP (fibre reinforced plastic) grating that can be removed for access. The grating doubles as a great anti-slip surface for standing on for your AB technicians. The FRP grating is shown in blue on the AB race render below.
