The Selection Process

SELECTING YOUR YARD

Choosing the right yard for your operation

Yards that are well designed and constructed are not only safer to work in, they’re also more efficient, enabling you and your staff to put through more cattle with less stress to both humans and beasts.

There’s a lot to take into account when designing a stockyard system: number of cattle; mob size; land area you’re running; breed; and what type of cattle you’re producing, to name a few. Te Pari Cattle Yards can be designed to suit any situation. Our design team can really help here – use a standard proven plan, your own design or a mix of both to suit your operation.

Selecting Strength

Tougher than timber, steel is the obvious choice for the progressive farmer. With tight health and safety regulations you need to trust your equipment and the Te Pari steel yards will give you that comfort. NZ Steel manufactures a custom profile rail exclusively for Te Pari. The deeper profile rail provides optimal strength in the cattle yard when you need it most.

The Selection Process

Site Selection

Location of your cattle handling system is vital for improved efficiency and profitability. At Te Pari we see hundreds of stockyards each year and consult with you on site to work out the best location taking into account many features such as flow, entries, loading, access, drafting and more.

Earthworks

In today’s busy farming world you need to focus on running your business, just like any business owner does. That’s why Te Pari coordinates and oversees the earthwork and drainage developments for many of our clients.

Concrete

Site preparation needs careful consideration and many modern cattle systems have the working area concreted. This prevents the main traffic areas getting muddy and provides a safer and cleaner working environment.

Te Pari can supply and place the concrete for your site as part of the Turnkey project.

Delivery

As part of your turnkey package Te Pari will delivery your yard right to your farm site and unload with a Hiab or crane. This ensures your system arrives undamaged and is unloaded safely onto site.

Installation

When the site is ready our own fully equipped installation team will erect your yards. They will ensure your cattle handling system is assembled correctly and ready to go.

All Te Pari products are designed for ultimate safety. Working with livestock can be a dangerous business at times so we’ve designed many features into our equipment to reduce the risk of accidents and injury. Animal safety is also paramount so all our equipment is designed to get the job done with minimal discomfort to the animal.

Expandable and Moveable

Our modular designs mean you can expand your  yard to suit your changing needs. The entire yard can be moved to a different site  if the need arises. Not only is this convenient but  it can future proof your enterprise if you have a  change of farming policy.

When making a major capital investment it is always good to consider the ‘Return On Investment’.  Here are just four ways you will get a return on your investment:

  1. A Te Pari Yard System is not money banged in the ground. The Steel Te Pari Yards can be easily relocated, changed or even sold at a later date should your needs change. This makes investing in Te Pari Steel Yards a smart move.
  2. The Te Pari System is virtually maintenance free. Say good bye to fixing up those broken wooded rails after each yarding! More time for the business of farming.
  3. Te Pari Yards are manufactured using a specially design oval Anti-bruise steel tubing. No single pressure point and no sharp edges – meaning reduced bruising for your stock and more money for your beef.
  4. Our customers regularly testify to the ease and speed of working in Te Pari Yards. Being able to work your cattle quickly means your stock handling is more likely to ‘get done’ or ‘done more often’. Cattle have a natural tendency to circle their handler, so our circular designs allow cattle to flow much better. Research shows circular yards can be up to 30% more efficient than square or rectangular yards thus allowing a much higher throughput of cattle.

Loading Systems

Solutions that focus on safety

Our latest design is a perfect example of this – A stepped loading ramp that provides a sure footed tread for stock and operators. Having steps instead of a sloped surface drastically reduces slipping when the ramp is wet or mucky.

Te Pari Gates

Introducing the new patented Te Pari Ultimate Gate

The Te Pari Ultimate Gate has been designed to overcome the typical problems presented by average gates. The average gate needs a bottom brace to retain integrity but this is a trip hazard and prevents muck from being hosed out when cleaning the yards.
The new patented Ultimate Gate has been designed to overcome the requirement for bracing across the bottom of the gateway by adding in an additional brace at the top.

Te Pari Panels

From timber to steel – straight to curved

Over the last decade timber cattle yards have begun to be replaced by their steel counterparts, and there are many good reasons for the change. Some of the main benefits of steel: they are virtually maintenance free; quick to install so you can get straight back into the real work; stronger than timber and therefore safer; and the railings are anti-bruise keeping stock in top condition.
