The new Donalds Easy ID VP1850 Panel Reader from Te Pari Products, has functional, structural, and dimensional enhancements which have not been seen on panel readers to date.

It's internal memory means it can be used as a stand-alone unit, without being connected to a weigh scale or data collector. Up to 900,000 tag numbers can be stored in as many files as needed, along with time / date stamp and GPS location. This makes it the ideal reader for multiple block farmers, grazing contractors, carriers, and stockyard operators, and well suited to most standard farming operations. Downloading of these records is via an internet connection, so there is no need to install software onto the computer. 

Alternatively, the integrated Bluetooth allows wireless communication to weigh scales and PDA's which have bluetooth capability. This allows the recording of a range of animal observations made through equipment such as weigh scales, without the inconvenience and physical limitations of cables. So animal identification can be quite remote from the communicating device. 

Connection can also be made in the traditional way to weigh scales by its RS232 port.   

Structurally, this reader is unique.........
It is moulded in one solid slab, rather than consisting of two sheets of moulded plastic fixed together. The material used is HWMPE, (High Molecular Weight Polyethylene), four times more abrasion-resistant than stainless steel, and with excellent impact properties. 
 
Dimensionally, this reader sets new standards.........
The overall thickness of the 595mm high by 395mm wide unit, is only 30mm. This includes the antenna and reader. So mounting inside a crate or race is a viable option.  

It has all the features of the more advanced panel readers, including auto tuning, LED confirmation of positive tag read and antenna tuning, and alternative mains or battery power options.

The end result is an easy to use, robust and compact reader which will record an extensive list of tag numbers together with time and location, or communicate with a range of weigh scales and data collectors by Bluetooth.
