Efficient Weighing Now More Affordable

Oamaru-based stock handling equipment specialist Te Pari Products has released an “entry-level” version of its highly successful Cattlemaster Classic Crush.

The Classic Junior Crush has fewer bells and whistles than its older brother but it still gives farmers a greater degree of precision, not to mention safety and ease of operations, in their cattle weighing.

Many farmers use weighing platforms in a race, but the company says if the animal leans on the rails along the side of the race, they may not get an accurate weight reading.

“With the Classic Junior Crush you put the loadbars under the whole thing and simply tare out the weight of the crush on the load bars to get a quick and accurate weight.”

The Classic Junior Crush is being introduced at a very sharp price, to help farmers out. The fully-featured Classic Crush costs around $8,000-10,000+GST. Mr. Blampied says many customers seeking a cheaper solution just buy Te Pari’s Classic Headbail, with weigh platform and sometimes its sliding gate as well, and fit them to existing facilities.

“But that can still cost around $4,000. We reckon many farmers would prefer to spend an extra $1500 or so and get a well-proven crush design that is not only solidly built but also far easier to use than their existing setup.”

He also has fielded interest from farmers who already have a Classic Crush and want another for a secondary set of yards that they don’t use so often.

“The important things about the Classic Junior Crush is that while it does not have all the features of the Classic Crush, it does enable the same weighing efficiency, it has the same well-proven headbail and sliding gate, and it does include provision to put a bar behind the animal to hold it in place.”
