Racewell
Racewell handling equipment grew out of on-farm needs and was developed by Robin and Carol Fagan, farmers from the Te Kuiti region of NZ. The couple were involved in sire referencing and articifial insemination to gain maximum genetic gain into their flock.
From an old deep freeze compressor, some ply and a few bits of RHS Robin constructed the prototype that was to become the iconic Racewell sheep handler. The original idea was to hold hoggets so the brass ear tag could be easily read before the sheep went into a Donald's weigh crate.
These early units are a far cry from the streamlined and automated units that make up the Racewell range today. But the ideas worked and, from farmer feedback, Racewell began its forward march. In 2011 Racewell was aquired by Te Pari Products Ltd. Now Racewell equipment is used by progressive sheep producers in many countries around the globe.
